Youth Programs supported by Soggy26:
Rotary Club of Launceston School Holiday Breakfast Hampers
It was back in 2008, when Rotarian Bill Dobson started participating in the school breakfast program at East Tamar Primary School and wondered how the children who received breakfasts got on during the school holidays when the program didn't run. In an effort to fill this gap, Bill and wife Pam began delivering breakfast supplies to families during these times. Recognising the value of being able to support vulnerable young people, and the impact of good nutrition on learning, it wasn't long before it became a sponsored project of the Rotary Club of Launceston. Bill continues to lead the program and deliver the School Holiday Hampers to needy families in Launceston's northern suburbs assisted by Club members.
The families who receive the hampers are identified by the school. The number of students and families varies each year, and even across the school year. Those most in need of support are those we seek to help. There can often be 40 children who are the recipients of the hampers. The hampers are designed to last a fortnight and are individualised according to the number of children in each family and contain a range of breakfast staples that the children are used to having as part of the School Breakfast program: bread, cereal, margarine, jam, fruit and long life milk. These are foods that the students can prepare themselves, if that is necessary, within their home environment.
Diabetes Australia Camps for Kids
The Diabetes Australia Youth Program in Tasmania provides age specific day activities especially designed for children with type 1 diabetes. The focus for each day activity is companionship, support, education, and fun. Day activities are held for children and their families, from 5 to 14 years of age. A team of health professionals including credentialled diabetes educators and dietitians coordinate each of the day activities.
Everyone at the day activities understands about living with diabetes, and no one lets that get in the way of having fun, getting active, having a go at some adventure activities as well as having time to chill out and chat with new and old friends.

JCP Youth’s BEAST Program
JCPYouth is a non-profit organisation based in Tasmania that is dedicated to assisting at-risk and vulnerable young individuals in our community. JCPYouth’s mission is to provide support, guidance, and opportunities to young people who are facing significant challenges in their lives and help steer them away from the justice system. Many of the participants come from low-income families, have experienced trauma, or are struggling with mental health issues. JCPYouth believe that every young person deserves the chance to realise their full potential, regardless of their background or circumstances and work tirelessly to turn this belief into reality for the young people they serve.
The BEAST Program is a high impact mentorship program for at-risk and vulnerable youth aged 11- 17. The program is inclusive of regular and sustainable mentorship with active role models in the Tasmanian community over a minimum of 12 months. It includes high impact camps, activity days, 1:1 mentoring and access to benevolent support (all at no cost to participants or their families). The BEAST program provides an opportunity for young people to learn about leadership, motivation and self-belief while giving them an opportunity to positively influence the world around them.
